St Hilda’s Success in the Junior Maths Challenge
53 year 7 and year 8 students from St Hilda’s sat the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge on 26th April 2018. They pitted their wits against 250,000 other students from more than 3,000 schools across the UK to answer questions like this:
We are extremely proud of our students who, with rational thinking, achieved high scores and 33 certificates between them: 17 bronze, 15 silver and 1 gold. This proportion puts them well above the national average of 40% gaining certificates. Mrs Weaver’s year 8 class did phenomenally well, scooping 21 certificates between them. Special congratulations goes to Dorothy in Year 7 who achieved the highest score in our school and a gold certificate to progress to the European Kangaroo. Well done to all students and keep up the good work, clear thinking and rational problem solving as you develop as mathematicians.
