Safer Internet Day online safety event for parents/carers – Tuesday 5th February 2019 6-7pm

The internet is a wonderful place that offers so many opportunities for children and young people to learn, connect and play. As the internet is always changing, being able to keep up to date with your child’s internet and social media use can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially if you feel that your child may know more about technology than you do. At St Hilda’s, we endeavour to ensure that all of our children learn how to use new technologies safely, responsibly and respectfully, by having regular lessons and conversations about the age appropriate use of social media, computer games and various apps and websites.
As part of our efforts to get parents more involved in their children’s learning, we are hosting an Online Safety event for parents/carers on Safer Internet Day,
Tuesday 5th February 6 – 7 p.m.
At this hour-long session, we have invited Mr Paul Bradshaw from the Local Authority to speak to parents about how they can help to keep their children safer online. Paul is a former Deputy Headteacher and now leads on Online Safety for Liverpool City Council across all Liverpool schools, both primary and secondary.
Paul will be raising awareness about a range of online issues parents need to know about, as well as suggesting a number of tips that families can adopt to become more confident and creative internet users, whilst recognising some of the risks that social media, for example, can bring as well as developing an understanding, alongside their child, of what to do if things go wrong.
