NSPCC Number Day, Friday 2nd February 2018
St Hilda’s staff and students had an action packed Number Day. In the run up to the day, everyone was invited to bring in their 2p pieces and fill up a jar. The house that brought in the most coppers was Brodie.
On the morning of Number Day students were treated to the premiere of the St Hilda’s National Numeracy Challenge video, featuring a BIG bar chart. Brodie were victorious again.
Year 9 Maths Leaders organised a bake sale and a Beat the Goalie competition, a joint win between Sean and Finn.
The Year 7 Mini Maths leaders organised a maths quiz and the winners, selected randomly from the correct entries, were Christina (1st), Jessica (2nd) and Oscar (3rd).
he event that caused the most excitement around the building was the Number Hunt. Students figured out the clues and then hunted for the person wearing it. Staff wore their numbers with pride and gave the students as little or as much help as they wished. All entrants won 5 house points, and the winner, drawn from the correct entries, was Eleni.
What a day! We had fun and raised £111.07 for the NSPCC. Next on the calendar for the Maths department is Pi Day on the 13th March (3.14…. to those in the USA) so we’d better get planning.
