Our trip to Attendorn – Georgia Norris 11AO
Myself and five classmates had the amazing opportunity to travel to Attendorn in Germany form a week. This was to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our partner school, St Ursula Gymnasium, and involved pupils from Ireland, Norway and Lithuania too. I stayed with a very nice German family, and our week was great fun! I made lots of new friends from all over the world, and I made many fantastic new memories. The focus for the trip was to discuss environmental issues, in particular, the huge environmental problems caused by plastics. This afforded us great opportunities, like meeting members of the European Parliament, having discussions with the ministers of the environment, and visiting the UN complex in Bonn. We also went bowling, had a BBQ and went to a party that the school hosted.
I am so glad that I was chosen to go, as even though it was quite a daunting prospect, I felt really welcome and I had an amazing time. I also got to practice my German, and I learnt new vocab and common slang words!
It was a trip that I’ll never forget.
