PE news week beginning 10th July
Results from the last week:
Cricket
The U13 boys cricket team beat St Margaret’s in the semi-final and have qualified for the finals in the Liverpool Schools Cup. Below is a short match report from Mr Lloyd:
St Margaret’s won the coin toss and chose to bat first. St Margaret’s scored 87 for 5 wickets.
At the half way point the St Hilda’s boys realised this was going to be a tough task as it would be the highest total to achieve this year. The boys put their heads down to tackle this task, keeping up with the required run rate throughout the innings. In the last over St Hilda’s required 7 from 6 deliveries with a game winning boundary from Sean Ryan off the second ball in the over. St Hilda’s got the requirement down to needing 1 run from the last ball, again it came down to Sean Ryan who again stood up to the task and hit the winning runs, meaning St Hilda’s scored 88 for 3. St Hilda’s won by 7 wickets
All of the boys played their part in the team effort to win this semi-final, with two run outs from Jack Jevons, and 2 wickets for Ronan Brady. All that batted, managed to score runs with James Weeks opening the batting and having to retire with 31, also making a significant contribution was Sean Ryan with 17 not out.
